have been thinking a *lot* about Care: what it means, who does it, who we do (or don't) pay for it, why this all-important element of ALL our lives so often gets demeaned, overlooked, ignored, rendered invisible. And what would happen if care/care-giving were somehow centered, made more important than (dare I say it?) profit? Care is, in its very essence, anti-capitalist b/c it's not really transactional: often (always?) those we care for cannot care for us back, at least not right then, not in the same way, etc etc. Marvelous essay, Ms Weaver
Once again, you have arrived in my inbox with the perfect message at the perfect moment. For lots of reasons, we are living in unprecedented times. What you have to say – and the way you say it – lands squarely where I need it: the intersection of reality and hopefulness. I’m so glad we discovered each other in this crazy online world. Big hugs to you.
